Doing our bit – Free buttons for ear protectors

We have had many requests for donations of buttons for groups making ear protectors for vulnerable workers. In response to this we have sorted out some of our odd/end of line/seconds buttons and put into packs of 20 which are available here on a first come first served basis. All that we ask is that you pay the postage costs and only order if you are making free ear protectors for our vulnerable key workers in care homes, hospitals, supermarkets and schools.

Wearing masks all day every day can cause chaffing behind the ears and ear protectors do a lot to relieve this. The ear protector rests across the back of the head and instead of hooking the mask elastic around the ears, it is hooked around a button on each end of the ear protector. This effectively relieves any pressure from behind the ears and prevents the mask elastic from rubbing this sensitive area.

The buttons we are offering range in size from 15-28mm and there will be a mix of colours/sizes in each pack. We will try and include 10 matching pairs of buttons in each of the packs, however we cannot guarantee this. The button packs are available in our online shop.

As this is a free product, we are limiting these to one per customer and we do only have a limited number of buttons that we are able to offer in this way.

Hope this helps in some way and thank you for your continuing support throughout this difficult time.

The Button Shed brand

It has come to our attention today that there is an independent website that is copying photographs and listings from small businesses that sell on major selling platforms.

Here at the Button Shed, we just want to let our customers know that we only sell on the following platforms and nowhere else:

The Button Shed website

Amazon

Ebay

Etsy

We do not sell on or via any other websites or platforms and have no association with any independent websites other than the one listed above.

Thank you

Life after teaching!

My first year in business

This year has marked my first full year as a self employed person and owner of The Button Shed. I left my well-paid ‘proper job’ last September to embark on this new journey. It has been stressful, worrying at times, mainly fun but most of all it has meant that I have been able to spend quality time with my family, which, after all, is what is important. We have also been able to adopt two new additions to our family now we both work from home.

My beautiful dogs!

How have I done it?

I have been lucky enough to be able to match my previous income, supplementing this by completing exam marking during the summer. This has been largely due to learning how to market my business correctly; I invested in the Girls mean Business, Awesome 2018 marketing planner last December after identifying that I needed to get up to speed, fast, on how to get my name out there. I chose this particular planner because, as well as receiving a physical planner and a wall planner,  it also came with monthly support bundles/emails/courses to keep me on track as well as membership of a supportive Facebook group.

My Planner and how it has helped me

The planner package has been worth its weight in gold to me and the Facebook group has allowed me to connect with other small business owners to access some of the additional support I have needed. For example, this year, I have built two fully functional e-commerce sites for my business with help from a connection I made in this group (This has saved me thousands of pounds and I have also learnt a new skill!). If you want any further information about how I have built my websites, please get in touch.

Plans for the future

I have recently opened my second e-commerce shop, The Button Shed Gifts; My own little online handmade jewellery and gift shop (I love it so much). I am hoping to continue growing both these businesses throughout 2019, so I have recently purchased the 2019 Awesome marketing planner. I have also become an affiliate for the planner because I really believe it can help others like it has helped me. You can have a look at the planner here  to find out more and should you decide it is for you, I get a little bonus too :). Ive added a picture of mine below sitting on the beautiful pink envelope it arrived in.

My new planner!
